LS Travel Retail North America will be opening two new concessions at Boston Logan International (BOS).
Slated to open early next year are the first iStore location in the United States and The Black Dog, Martha’s Vineyard iconic brand.
“We are very pleased to be in a position to open our very first iStore in a U.S. airport,” says Gerry Savaria, president and CEO of LS Travel Retail. “This opportunity came up earlier than expected in our deployment plans for U.S. airports, which shows the foresight of Massport and Westfield [Concession Management] in offering innovative solutions to their travelers. At the other end of the spectrum, The Black Dog will bring a very local and unique touch to Terminal C at Boston’s Logan airport.”
At iStore, shoppers will find in-store Wi-Fi; personal mobile electronic devices and accessories from Apple, Sony, Monster and BlackBerry; and signature iStore demonstration tables where travelers can experiment with new products.
The Black Dog will offer travelers apparel and accessories for men, women and children, as well as gifts and souvenirs including dog-related items.
“Concepts such as iStore and The Black Dog will help enhance the traveler experience by providing variety and a sense of place in Terminal C which just underwent a $60M expansion and renovation,” says Sal Amico, aviation business general manager for the Massachusetts Port Authority, an independent public authority which owns and operates BOS and other transportation facilities.
Dominic Lowe, senior vice president for airports for Westfield added: “We have been working very closely with Massport on the expansion of the concessions program in Terminal C and are thrilled to include iStore and The Black Dog as part of this effort – each of which is a first for a U.S. airport.”
In other BOS news…
Westfield Concession Management, which develops and manages the concessions program at BOS Terminal C, has opened Swatch, Travel + Leisure, and two Hudson News & Gift stores.
The store openings are the first phase of an airport project that unveiled a 12-lane checkpoint and repositioned several of Terminal C’s concessions post-security.
“The opening of Swatch, Travel + Leisure and Hudson News kicks off the transformation of Terminal C’s retail program in grand fashion,” says Ellery Plowman, vice president of leasing for Westfield. “These stores provide Terminal C’s passengers with an incredible array of first-class products to choose from, and are just the first infusion of 10 renowned retail brands into the terminal.”
Swiss watchmaker Swatch has unveiled its newest retail store concept at BOS. It features a modern interior with white walls and countertops, continuing its Ice Dunes them. It can be found in Terminal C, post-security.
At the two new pre-security Hudson stores in Terminal C, travelers will find reading materials, snacks, bottled beverages, film, batteries, health and beauty aids, traveler convenience items, tobacco products, candy, souvenir apparel and regional gifts.
Travel + Leisure has partnered with Hudson Group to create travel concept stores that offer products related to travel such as luggage and accessories, along with printed materials such as local maps and travel guides; the store will also offer current editions of Travel + Leisure magazine and its sister publication, Food & Wine. The store is pre-security in Terminal C.
“The Travel + Leisure concept grew out of Hudson’s relationship with the magazine publishing industry through our news-stand Hudson News, which sells millions of books and magazines each year,” says Hudson Group Executive Vice President of Marketing Hope Remoundos.
