The Food & Shops at LaGuardia (LGA) will help celebrate National Aviation Week, Aug. 16-22, with an array of events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 19. The airport has teamed up with The Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum for the festivities, which will be in the Central Terminal’s Food & Shops departures level.
To get youngsters involved, kids and teens are invited to participate in the Art in Motion program, which includes crafts, mini-model airplanes, clothing, painting and face painting; there is no fee for any of these activities, and it is open to the public.
There will also be an Amelia Earhart impersonator to visit and interact with visitors, as well as share historical details about National Aviation Week. In addition, a team from the museum will be on hand to answer any questions about the attractions.
“It is an honor to work with the Intrepid Museum to celebrate Aviation Day at the Food & Shops,” says Lillian Tan, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Development, the retail development company that develops and manages the Food & Shops program in the terminal. “LaGuardia Airport and the Intrepid Museum have long been a piece of New York’s notable aviation history and we are proud to celebrate this with our Food & Shops customers.”
It is the second annual partnership between the company and the museum.
