First Round Of Restaurant And Retail Offerings Announced At BOS

Hudson Group, HMSHost Corp., Delaware North and Air Ventures have unveiled the brands they will be bringing to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) as part of a concessions overhaul being managed by MarketPlace Logan.

HG Logan Retailers, a joint venture between Hudson Group and four Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise companies including Kellee Communications Group Inc., Branded Works Inc., The Nia Corp. and Saxon Ventures LLC., will open nearly 40 stores covering more than 34,000 square feet of retail space spread across Terminals A, B, C and E.

In addition to its namesake Hudson travel essentials stores, the company will operate:

  • Ink by Hudson, a contemporary bookstore
  • Tech on the Go
  • 5th & Sunset, which sells proprietary sunglasses and accessories
  • MAC, a makeup store
  • Tumi, an international business, accessory and travel lifestyle brand
  • Vineyard Vines, an apparel and accessories store for men and women
  • Dunkin’ Donuts

“We are excited to grow our footprint,” says Joseph DiDomizio, president and CEO. “Our superior operational expertise, combined with our long-standing partnerships with both Massport and MarketPlace, underscores our commitment to enhance the traveler shopping experience.”

HMSHost’s contract involves opening 14 food and beverage locations at BOS. Among them:

  • Trade, a casual-dining Mediterranean restaurant by Chef Jody Adams
  • Boston Public Market, based on Hanover Street’s year-round indoor marketplace
  • Kelly’s Roast Beef, a family-owned brand known for its roast beef sandwiches that has been in the region since 1951
  • Saloniki Greek, another Jody Adams concept with Greek food and a full-service bar
  • Sullivan’s, a quick-service seaside-style eatery with a landmark location on the shore of Boston Harbor since 1951
  • Monument Restaurant & Tavern, a modern take on the classic American tavern from Charlestown, Massachusetts

Delaware North will bring 12 new restaurants and retail offerings to BOS starting late this year. They include:

  • Pei Wei, an Asian-themed restaurant
  • Wpizza, a wood-fired pizza concept developed by Wolfgang Puck
  • North End Bar
  • Two B. Good Burger restaurants, a popular local farm-to-table concept
  • Monica’s Mercato, which is known for sub sandwiches
  • Mija Cantina, a Mexican concept located in Faneuil Hall
  • Sports bars themed around the Boston Celtics basketball franchise and the Boston Bruins hockey team
  • Several restaurants created by Boston chef Michael Schlow that are being adapted for the airport, including Tico, which features a Spanish-inspired menu; Alta Strada, a casual Italian restaurant;
  • New Balance, the local shoe and apparel company’s first airport location

Delaware North owns and operates TD Garden, where both the Bruins and Celtics play. It also operates seasonal programming at Boston’s City Hall Plaza and is developing a mixed-use project adjacent to the Garden, called The Hub on Causeway.

“Boston is a very, very important place for us and our significant commitment to the community and economic development here continues to strengthen with our investments in TD Garden and The Hub on Causeway,” says Charlie Jacobs, CEO of Delaware North’s Boston Holdings. “So, we are thrilled to extend our local focus to Logan Airport, where we can leverage our Boston synergies for travelers from and to our great city.”

Air Ventures LLC will operate Lucca and Not Your Average Joe’s, respectively, a fine-dining Italian restaurant and a creative casual neighborhood concept.

The Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates BOS, selected MarketPlace Logan last year to take over marketing, managing and leasing its concessions program.

“Our team has been working diligently to welcome these iconic brands and local favorites to our hometown airport,” says Paul McGinn, president of MarketPlace Development, parent company to MarketPlace Logan. “Through our collaboration with Massport we are committed to bringing local flavor to Boston Logan passengers for a true Boston and New England experience each time they visit the airport.”

More opportunities for local retailers and restaurants are in the works, with details to be announced at a later date, company officials say.
