The MarketPlace Philadelphia Management team raised more than $10,000 during the sixth annual Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House Plan Pull event Thursday; the team came in fifth place.
The plane pull is organized by the PRMH and designed as a tug-of-war competition between teams. The one that can pull a plane over the designated distance in the shortest amount of time is deemed the winner. The event raises money and awareness for PRMH, which helps local families in need.
“We have a longstanding partnership with the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House and the plane pull event is one of our favorite initiatives,” says Mel Hannah, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Philadelphia Management. “I’m proud of the support from our merchants and the entire team at MarketPlace Philadelphia Management.”
Merchants from the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops made in-kind donations of food and refreshments for participants. Merchants included Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Green Leafs, Jack Duggan’s, Sweet Flights, Angelina’s Panini Bar, Chickie’s & Pete’s, Le Bus, Paradies, Burrito Elito, XpresSpa and Philly Steak & Gyro.
The PRMH provides a home away from home for families of critically ill children who are getting treatment at local hospitals. The group operates two houses in the city, serving a total of 63 families each day.
