MEM To Modernize Check-In, Baggage Systems

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) this week released an updated Strategic Overview for Memphis International Airport (MEM) that includes modernizing the ticketing and baggage areas, building additional parking structures and creating a new parking reservation/online booking system.

The projects are all set for completion by the end of 2024 and will be included in the updated Master Plan for MEM set to be released later this year by the MSCAA.

The just released strategic overview also calls for implementing and managing the long-term development of the food and beverage and retail concession program and calls on the MSCAA to market available land and properties at MEM and two local general interest airports, General DeWitt Spain and Charles W. Baker, to increase non-aeronautical revenue opportunities.

“While post-COVID impacts remain, MSCAA is charting an exciting path for the future,” said Scott A. Brockman, MSCAA president and CEO. “Our focus on sustainability, predictability, and flexibility will ensure a successful future for our airports, passengers, and employees.”
