Miami-Dade Aviation Department has filled four posts on its leadership team with both internal candidates and those sought from related industries.
Longtime authority executive Gregory Owens was promoted in March to assistant director for business retention and development, overseeing commercial operations, hospitality, marketing and real estate management for Miami International (MIA) and four general aviation airports. He previously had served the department in a variety of roles.
In February, Joseph Napoli was named chief of staff and senior policy advisor, assisting the aviation director in handling administrative, financial and operational activities for the aviation department. He had been a senior associate and South Florida lead at the Miami office of Booz Allen Hamilton, a national strategy and technology consulting firm.
That same month, Dan Agostino joined the MDAD as assistant director for operations, overseeing terminal, landside and airside divisions at MIA and the general aviation airports. He has 25 years of airline industry experience in airport operations, cargo sales and cargo operations, and he had most recently been director of tower and ramp operations for American Airlines at MIA.
Hiram Barroso joined MDAD last fall as senior executive assistant to the director and deputy chief of staff, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the Office of the Director and serving as a liaison between that office and the MDAD staff and other city departments.
“Like any large organization, MDAD is only as good as the people who lead it and I’m confident these four leaders will keep our department on an upward trajectory,” says Emilio T. Gonzalez, the MDAD’s director. “Each of them brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table that will serve our organization, our business partners and our passengers well.”
