Miami International (MIA) has “hired” Leticia, a virtual assistant powered by high-definition projection imaging and surround sound, to help passengers in the airport’s South Terminal.
The virtual assistant works seven days a week, 24 hours per day providing information on shopping, eating and other services. It also will showcase new products, seasonal promotions, new menu items and more, and it can do so in English or Spanish.
Concessions developer Westfield, which manages the MIA Concessions Marketing Program, launched the pilot program. The Miami-Dade Aviation Department and MIA concessionaires hired Leticia as part of a pilot program. She’s located at two entrances to the terminal, and more virtual assistants may be added later in different spots.
“Westfield’s digital team is developing technology solutions as part of our overall design vision to elevate the complete passenger experience in North America,” says Dominic Lowe, executive vice president.
“We are proud to partner with our concessionaires to introduce a new, innovative way to engage with our customers and provide them with an enhanced travel experience,” says Emilio T. Gonzalez, aviation department director.
