International travelers arriving at Miami International (MIA) soon will be welcomed by a new facility.
On July 31, the new three-level, 400,000 sq. ft. international facility will open in the middle of the North Terminal; it is adjacent to the Concourse D Skytrain.
Travelers will find a passport control area with 72 lanes that can process 2,000 passengers per hour; there will also be six dedicated lanes for Global Entry, which provides expedited processing for travelers who have registered with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
After processing, travelers will pick up their checked luggage at the second-level baggage-claim area and exit either on the second level for connecting flights or to the first level greeter’s lobby. The greeter’s lobby features a rendering of the globe called “Gateway of the World.”
