Midfield Concession Enterprises, Hojeij Branded Foods Among Winners Of DTW Food Packages

The Wayne County Airport Authority Board has approved food and beverage contracts for Midfield Concession Enterprises, Hojeij Branded Foods, Areas USA and McDonald’s to operate in Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County’s (DTW) McNamara Terminal.

The two largest winners are Midfield and Hojeij, winning three packages apiece. Midfield won packages 1, 7 and 8, which total six locations in approximately 35,000 square feet. Hojeij won packages 2, 3 and 5, totaling seven locations in nearly 30,000 square feet. Areas USA won package 6, a 3,275-square-foot space designated for a themed, local or regionally branded casual sit-down restaurant featuring Mediterranean cuisine. McDonald’s won package 4, which is one location at more than 2,200 square feet, for a national branded fast-food hamburger restaurant. According to Wayne County’s request for proposals, terms for packages are 10 years except for packages 1 and 5, which are for 12 years. The airport specified that packages 1 and 5 were to develop gate hold dining

Among the brands Hojeij will be bringing are P.F. Chang’s, LongHorn Steakhouse, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Gordon Biersch, Chick-fil-A, Pinkberry, Illy Coffee, Bruegger’s Bagels and local concept Plum Market.

DTW’s McNamara Terminal is 2 million square feet and comprised of a main terminal building and an east and west concourse. McNamara accounts for nearly 80 percent of the airport’s total enplaned passengers, 63.5 percent of which is connecting traffic.
