Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) this week raised awareness for Disability Pride Month by touting the airport features and services that make travel easier for those flying with a disability.
MKE is a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program and adults and children traveling through MKE can pick up a special sunflower lanyard at the airport information desk, located pre-security in the main terminal. The airports also accommodate passengers traveling with service animals by offering outdoor and indoor Service Animal Relief Areas (SARAs).
It also provides AIRA Access Location for travelers who are blind or vision impaired; all of MKE’s Milwaukee parking shuttles are fully accessible; and the airport also offers plenty of accessible parking spots throughout its parking facilities. All airlines serving MKE also provide complimentary wheelchair service and other special assistance for travelers upon request.
“Just in the past few years alone, we’ve brought several new programs and features to MKE to help make travel easier for those who are in need,” said Brian Dranzik, director. “At MKE, we strive to offer the best and most accessible travel experience for all passengers.”
