Barry Bateman, who has been director at General Mitchell Inter5national (MKE) for 31 years, will retire April 18.
Bateman has been known for exceptional leadership skills, sound fiscal policies and excellent business relationships with airlines that have increased air service and provided the infrastructure to handle growth, according to a news release.
During his tenure, passenger traffic at MKE increased from 3 million to more than 7 million and the airport has conducted more than $500 million in capital improvements. Among many career accolades, Bateman received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Airport Executives in 2007 and a Lifetime Service Award from the Wisconsin Airport Management Association in 2010.
