M&Ms Store Opens In JFK Terminal 7

Mars International Travel Retail and Duty Free Americas teamed to open a new interactive M&Ms store in Terminal 7 at John F. Kennedy International, replacing another that had been open since 2011.

The approximately 320-square-foot store has a local New York theme in both its design and product offer. The back wall is divided into the five main M&M character colors: orange, blue, green, yellow and red, and each section has themed gifts, clothing, confectionary and plush items. In an effort to create a Times Square effect and bring the store to life, television screens at the top of the back wall show short videos focusing on the personality of each of the M&M characters, stakeholders say.

Located between Gates 7 and 8, the store is more interactive than its predecessor. It also carries other popular Mars brands, such as Snickers, Celebrations, Bounty and more.

“We challenged Mars ITR to come up with a concept that would truly give a sense of place, while enticing travelers to enter our store and purchase these great products,” says Leon Falic, president of Duty Free Americas. “We are delighted with the result – an engaging shopping experience that has immediately proven successful.”

This is the ninth M&Ms store to open in travel retail.
