MSP Terminal 1 Project Ahead of Schedule

The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) and Delta Air Lines are completing work ahead of schedule on their project to renovate Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP)’s Terminal 1. The $242-million Airport Modernization Program, helmed by the MAC and Delta, will begin its third and final phase of construction next week, two months earlier than originally planned. The final phase of construction focuses on floor, ceiling and interior gate work in Concourses A, B, G (Gates G1-6, G14, G15 and adjacent corridor areas), as well as the skybridge connecting concourses C and G. The Airport Modernization Project, which began work in 2023, is scheduled to be complete by 2025. Full project improvements include dynamic flight information screens, refreshed gate spaces, new gate seating with power outlets, new carpeting finishes and more accessible flooring.

“Close to a year into the program, many passengers can now see some of the improvements walking to or from the first completed gate areas — they’re bright and modern, delivering an exceptional airport experience for passengers,” said Bridget Rief, vice president of airport development and planning at the MAC, which owns and operates MSP. “New digital gate signs are now visible walking down the concourse, which allows passengers to see flight and destination information more quickly.”

“As we move into the third and final phase of the Airport Modernization Program, we are thrilled to offer our customers a seamless and consistent experience as they travel through MSP,” added Jeannine Ashworth, vice president of Delta operations at MSP. “We are grateful for our partnership with the MAC to bring our shared vision to life.”
