MYR Breaks Ground On Terminal Expansion

Airport staff and community leaders marked the kickoff of Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR)’s latest project, the $95-million Concourse A expansion.

The expansion — which was previously planned for 2018 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic — will add six new gates to the airport, as well as revamped restrooms, new flooring, concessions and improved signage throughout the terminal.

Airport executives, who anticipate the project to be complete by December 2025, said that the expansion was an important step in serving the fast-growing facility. The South Carolina airport has seen significant increases in traffic over the last five years, serving 3.4 million passengers annually.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey towards providing a world-class airport experience,” said airport director Judi Olmstead. “We are thrilled to offer our guests a new and improved terminal and are grateful for your support as we embark on this exciting endeavor.”
