NASAO Taps Principato As CEO

The National Association of State Aviation Officials has selected Greg Principato as its president and CEO.

Principato had been a senior advisor to National Strategies LLC and had operated his own firm since leaving Airports Council International-North America, where he was president and CEO from 2005 to 2013.

Before joining ACI-NA, he was a trade and transportation specialist at Hunton & Williams from 1991 to 2005 and served as executive director of the National Commission to Ensure a Strong Competitive Airline Industry in 1993. He also worked previously in the administration of then-Virginia Gov. Gerald L. Baliles from 1986 to 1990 and has been on staff for U.S. Senators J. Bennett Johnston and Joseph R. Biden.

“I am excited to be joining the NASAO team as its president and CEO,” Principato says. “From my time working for an innovative, transportation-oriented governor through my career in aviation, I have become convinced that the states are ‘where it’s at’ when promoting aviation as a force for building modern communities connected to the national and global economy.”

The NASAO, founded in 1931, represents men and women in state government who protect and promote the public interest in the aviation transportation system. Principato replaces Henry Ogrodzinski, who led the organization for 18 years before his death in January. Principato takes the helm Nov. 17.
