New Art Exhibit Opens At MIA

A collection of two- and three-dimensional art is on display through January at Miami International’s (MIA) Central Terminal mia Gallery.

In “Free Arranger,” five artists — Dimitry Saïd Chamy, Theresa Hackett, Judith Robertson, Michelle Weinberg and Elizabeth Cheatham Wild – work with divers mediums, reordering, recycle, layer and create new sequences, “rearranging” everyday items into something totally different.

“We are always looking for vibrant, visually compelling exhibitions that break the monotony of the travel experience for our passengers, and ‘Free Arranger’ certainly fits that description,” says Yolanda Sanchez, Fine Arts and Cultural Affairs Division director for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. “We are proud to showcase the works of these five diverse artists who have truly rearranged colors and patterns in some extremely unique ways.”

The exhibit is post-security on the second level of Concourse E, but non-ticketed visitors can see it by special request. It is part of the broader MIA Galleries Exhibition program, which was designed to humanize the airport environment with cultural and educational experiences.
