The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority has named Carl Newman the new CEO of Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International (JAN) and Hawkins Field (HKS).
Newman will be responsible for planning, directing, managing, and overseeing all activities and operations of the JMAA. He’ll establish goals and objectives for airport operations, coordinate activities with administrators and official of the counties and cities in the metropolitan area and provide support to the authority board.
“I am very pleased and excited to have been selected by the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority Board to lead the JMAA team,” he says. “Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport is among the elite ‘commercial service’ airports, not just in the United States, but the world. The organization is in the midst of implementing the airport master plan that will serve the traveling public well into the future. I am looking forward to being part of this fun and exciting transformation.”
Newman most recently was general manager of George Bush Intercontinental (IAH); he also spent 32 years in various positions, including assistant aviation director and deputy aviation director, at Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX).
He starts Jan. 2.
