The Port of Oakland announced Craig Simon as its latest director of aviation for San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK). Simon has served as OAK’s interim director of aviation since July 2023.
Simon began his aviation career in 2001 as a senior airport operations specialist at San José Mineta International Airport (SJC), eventually working his way up to serving as the facility’s airside airport operations superintendent. Simon joined the OAK team in 2012, working both as an airside operations superintendent and assistant director of aviation before assuming his role as interim director of aviation. Simon will be responsible for leading the airport through its proposed Terminal Modernization and Development project, which is currently in its environmental review phase.
“I am committed to leading San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport during this pivotal time of improvement and development for the benefit of our San Francisco Bay region,” said Simon. “I would like to thank Port leadership for entrusting me with the great honor of taking our OAK team to new heights.”
