Former Vancouver International (YVR) executive Susan Stiene has joined Optimas Management Group as president and CEO. Vancouver-based Optimas, a new consultancy, focuses on deriving maximum benefit from commercial programs at airports and other transportation facilities.
Stiene, who previously was director of commercial services at YVR, said she is eager to share her knowledge.“As time went on I realized that I’ve learned so much at YVR, I just wanted the opportunity to apply some of the best processes and skills that I honed at YVR to other airports, shopping centers and other transportation facilities as well,” Stiene told ARN.
Stiene says the goal for Optimas is to “help airports find ways to maximize that revenue through powerful commercial strategies that focus on sense of place, innovation and delivering best-in-class customer care to passengers.”
Creating an “experience” enhances the traveler’s perception of an airport, Stiene said. “It’s really important that airports keep their individuality so that they have their own presence,” she said. Airports need passengers to recognize their unique qualities, “not just another airport along their connection chain,” she added.
In addition to her previous work at YVR, Stiene has contributed expertise to commercial programs such as Midway (MDW), LaGuardia (LGA), Chile’s Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International (SCL) and Lynden Pindling International (NAS) in Nassau, the Bahamas.
