ORF Hires New Senior Positions

Norfolk International Airport (ORF) has named Joseph Guarino and Gene Bonney its next senior manager of airside operations and senior manager of facilities, respectively.

Guarino, who began his role on January 27, will be responsible for supervising the airport’s operations and field maintenance departments as well as managing airport safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with state, federal and local regulations. Guarino has over four decades of industry experience and previously served as airfield superintendent for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, airport duty manager of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and airport operations manager for Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

“I look forward to joining the Norfolk Airport Authority, working with their hard working and dedicated staff, important and crucial stakeholders, and the most vital airport asset, our passengers,” said Guarino. “It is an honor and truly a privilege to be offered the position of senior manager of airside operations.”

Bonney, who began his role on January 12, will be responsible for managing the airport’s building maintenance and janitorial departments as well as maintaining oversight of the Operational Readiness, Activation & Transition (ORAT) program. Bonney has worked at ORF for over a decade and most recently served as the airport’s manager of building maintenance. Prior to his tenure at ORF, Bonney worked for the City of Chesapeake Public Schools as well as Wright-Way Plumbing LLC.

“I am honored to assume the role of senior manager of facilities for the Norfolk Airport Authority,” said Bonney. “As we continue our transformation, I am eager to contribute to initiatives that will elevate the passenger experience and support the growth of our airport. I am privileged to work alongside a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals, making this opportunity even more rewarding.”
