OTG To Invest $120 Million On EWR Terminal C Renovation

OTG Management said it will spend $120 million on an investment in United Airline’s hub at Newark Liberty International (EWR) that will “re-imagine the airport experience.”

OTG is partnering with United to oversee the transformation in Terminal C, including new chef-driven restaurants, expansive food halls, gourmet markets, and retail and duty-free shops.

“We will combine leading- edge technology, including the deployment of the largest number of iPads under one roof anywhere in the world, with award-winning dining, renowned design, and world-class retail and duty-free shopping,” Rick Blatstein, CEO of OTG, said in an email.

“Customers will begin seeing immediate improvements in November, when temporary restaurant locations pop up to offer a taste of what’s to come,” Blatstein added. “The full experience is expected to be phased in over the next 18 months.”

The project includes more than 55 new dining venues, including restaurant concepts created by more than 20 chefs, as well as markets and cafes. Details about specific concepts weren’t immediately available. Passengers will have access to the concessions from their gates, as well. The nearly 60 gate areas will feature OTG’s signature iPad tablet option, in which travelers waiting for a flight will be able to use any of almost 6,000 iPad tablets free of charge to track their flight, order food and purchase travel amenities for delivery directly to their seat in the terminal. More than 10,000 outlets and USB interfaces will accompany the redesigned terminal seating.
