OTG, United Release RFP For IAH Specialty Retail, Passenger Amenities

United Airlines and OTG have released a Request for Proposals for the operation of specialty retail and passenger amenity concessions at George Bush Intercontinental (IAH). The RFP includes five units located in Terminal E.

Each unit is being offered as a single package, and respondents may propose on one or more packages. Respondents may also bundle two or more packages to create a larger package of specialty retail and/or propose multiple, alternative concept options within a package.

Three packages have existing tenants and will be leased for terms of seven years. Two new specialty retail spaces will be leased for 10-year terms.

According to the RFP, the objectives of the specialty retail program include strong national and international brand representation including popular brands associated with Houston; appealing store designs; expanded brand, merchandise and service offerings; inclusion of in-store promotions and seasonal events; full integration of customer-friendly technologies; a balanced merchandise mix; and unique passenger amenities.

Terminal E has 30 gates on two piers with a mix of domestic and international travelers. The terminal had approximately 5.5 million enplanements in 2016.

OTG will conduct a pre-proposal meeting and tour on March 1. RFP responses are due April 21. The company anticipates awarding contracts on or around June 5. Stores are expected to open by March 1, 2018.
