OTG Management has merged its own internally developed Flo app with Apple Watch to give restaurants in Terminal C at Newark Liberty International’s (EWR) immediate insights into operations.
Notifications from the app provide real-time updates on kitchen operations, customer feedback, inventory levels and sales performance, demonstrating the value Apple Watch has in restaurants, company officials say.
“Our business is centered around our customers, and the understanding that their time is extremely valuable,” says Rick Blatstein, CEO. “We have invested significantly in technology to ensure the efficiency of our operations, and the Apple Watch is an ideal platform to enable us to respond even faster.”
Flo has paid dividends for OTG, Blatstein says, adding that the app has created a platform that is leading a digital transformation in the hospitality sector. Flo is part of an iOS-based ecosystem that leverages iPads, iPhones and now the Apple Watches. It has managed more than 5 million transactions across a network of 6,000 iPads in five major airports, OTG says. Plans call for an additional 7,000 iPads to be added to the network in the next 18 months.
“Flo on the Apple Watch marks a major milestone for our technology platform, which we see having a profound benefit for restaurants both inside and outside of the airport space,” Blatstein says.
