Outside Magazine’s Travel Awards Gives Nod To SFO As Best Airport

Outside Magazine has named San Francisco International (SFO) the Best Airport as part of the magazines 2014 Travel Awards.

The honor was bestowed for the airport’s renovation of Terminal 3, Boarding Area E. The $138 million project was finished in January and features 10 gates, interactive technology known as Flight Deck, locally sourced concessions, private changing rooms and a yoga room. The area also has natural light, photovoltaic energy support and fixtures that reduce water consumption – all of which are expected to help the facility earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by Outside Magazine for T3E,” says Airport Director John L. Martin. “With each terminal improvement, we aim to set a new standard for the airport guest experience. This award validates our efforts.”

Outside Magazine’s annual travel awards recognize exceptional travel destinations, as well as airlines, hotels and travel gear.
