Overbrook School For The Blind Students Display Their Art At PHL

Students from the Overbrook School for the Blind are showcasing their artwork at an exhibit at Philadelphia International (PHL).

The school, known for its programs for children of all ages and abilities, works to aid people with visual impairments and blindness.

Students participate in artistic endeavors such as the school’s visual arts program that includes painting, sculpture and fabric arts. “Artwork by Students from Overbrook School for the Blind, Philadelphia,” an exhibit in Terminal A-East Baggage Claim at PHL, will display the students’ talents through May.

For the exhibit, which is accessible to the public, the students learned about the Mayan culture through pictures, tactile illustrations, sculpture and glyph reliefs, and they created mixed-media collages.

“The airport is thrilled to display artwork by students from Overbrook School for the Blind,” says said airport CEO Mark Gale. “Their artistic accomplishments are extraordinary. It is a pleasure to share the students’ creativity with passengers from around the world and to support the achievements of a very unique Philadelphia area school.”
