PANYNJ Appoints Aviation Director

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has named Thomas Bosco its aviation director and Huntley Lawrence its deputy director. Both individuals had been named to the posts on an interim basis last year, following the departure of former director Susan Baer in July 2012 and a vacancy in the deputy’s position.

Bosco, a nearly 28-year veteran of PANYNJ, most recently served as general manager of LaGuardia (LGA) before moving into the interim director role. Lawrence has been with the agency more than 28 years and previously was general manger of Newark Liberty International (EWR).

Bosco and Lawrence are taking the helm at a time when PANYNJ airports are slated for some major upgrades. The agency will invest $8 billion over 10 years on improvements to its aviation assets, with major terminal redevelopments slated for both LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International.

“Their leadership, experience and continuity will serve the agency well as we undertake $8 billion in capital investments to help modernize our airports over the next decade, including a new LaGuardia Central Terminal building, and bring them into the 21st century,” says port authority Executive Director Pat Foye.

Together, PANYNJ’s airports – John F. Kennedy International (JFK), EWR, LGA, Teterboro (TEB), Stewart International (SWF) and Atlantic City International (ACY) – handled a record 112.5 million passengers in 2013.
