Pennsylvania Airports Benefit From State Investment

Four Pennsylvania airports received state investments totaling $5M that will assist them in expanding terminals, runways and other airport facilities.

Harrisburg International (MDT) received $2.2M, the largest block of money. MDT will use the grant to enhance its terminal area. University Park (SCE) in Centre County, the largest airport in the U.S. without an airport traffic control tower, received $1.25M to construct such a tower. Philadelphia International (PHL) received $1M and Indiana County Jimmy Stewart (IDI) received $550,000. Both airports will use the funds on runway projects.

The grants were authorized by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, approved by Gov. Edward G. Rendell and authorized by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
