Pepper The Robot Makes Debut At OAK, Courtesy Of HMSHost

With the help of HMSHost Corp., Pepper the Robot is greeting and engaging passengers at Oakland International (OAK). The company teamed up with SoftBank Robotics America to launch a pilot program with Pepper at the airport.

The 4-foot-tall humanoid robot will be in the Pyramid Ale Taproom in Terminal 2. He will offer assistance, menu recommendations and directions to travelers. Pepper uses applications built specifically for HMSHost, so the robot can provide food and beverage recommendations based on each traveler’s preferences. An interactive map on Pepper’s screen can help people find their gate, restrooms and exits.

“At HMSHost we are always working to identify the next opportunity to elevate the guest experience at airports,” says Jim Schmitz, vice president of innovation. “Through constant innovation we aim to engage with travelers and assist them on their journey. We are very excited to introduce them to Pepper as part of these efforts.”
