PeriscapeVR has opened its Virtual Reality (VR) Experience Center in Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in a pop-up location with a six-month lease. In what PeriscapeVR claims is the first of its kind to launch in an airport, the VR Experience Center will provide immersive entertainment experiences that travelers can enjoy while in the airport.
PeriscapeVR offers virtual and mixed reality experiences for the VR curious, adventurous and experienced users. The experience center is located in the T4 retail lounge. It features freestanding VR towers with 12 stations designed specifically with travelers’ security, awareness, and customer experience in mind. With prices ranging from $1-$2 per minute and experiences averaging approximately 5-10 minutes each, the experience center is a scalable installation that brings an entertainment option to mass audiences.
The experiences are grouped into five distinct content categories: “First Time”; “Experience”; “Create”; “Play”; and “Cause” and feature exclusive content from some of the most respected brands in virtual reality. The experiences have been curated to appeal to a wide variety of air travelers. They will instantly transport users to exotic destinations, and allow them to draw and create in 3D, personify a famous musician, play games and more.
“PeriscapeVR, meaning ‘escape within,’ was created for travelers who desire a fun, blissful and euphoric respite from airport crowds and long hours between flights,” says Lynn Rosenthal, founder and CEO of PeriscapeVR. “As a frequent traveler, I recognized there was a gap in the market for this kind of airport entertainment, and I am delighted to be bringing PeriscapeVR to JFK T4.”
Edward Midgley, vice president of commercial for JFKIAT, the company that manages Terminal 4, says the company “strives to provide passengers with the best experiences possible, and PeriscapeVR will give travelers something new to enjoy while at the airport.”
