Pacific Gateway Concessions Incorporates Handheld POS Technology

Pacific Gateway Concessions deployed handheld point of sale technologies last week in its Bay Reader Newsstand for the first time.

Bay Reader is located in San Francisco International’s (SFO) Terminal 1, Boarding Area B, which serves a high volume of passengers daily, company officials say.

The handheld wireless device scans merchandise, completes credit card transactions, and wirelessly prints or emails receipts to customers.

“My team is thrilled, as are the customers,” says Jerry Fung, regional general manager for Pacific Gateway. “This solution takes away the natural barriers to the customer. There is no need to stand in line at the counter, we can serve you anywhere.”

In other company news, Pacific Gateway announced that Kenneth Howe has joined the company in a business development and marketing role. He’s been tasked with expanding the reach of the company’s retailing and foodservice ventures.
