PHL Exhibit Shows Off ‘Private Collections’

Travelers passing through Philadelphia International (PHL) can get a glimpse into what local residents are passionate about. “Private Collections: Personal Obsessions” features 18 collections that showcase the popular culture of the region.

“Although collecting is a universal experience, each collection is personal and unique,” explains Airport Exhibitions Director Leah Douglas.  “Each object represents a specific remembrance or story of the collector.”

Included in the exhibit are such things as Bobbleheads, nostalgia reflected in vintage postcards, key chains, and mementos from the collector’s travels, such as snow globes.

“Not only are collections a wonderful record of our culture, they also provide insight about the collector’s interests and personal history,” says Douglas.

The exhibit, which can be found in the corridor between Terminal A-East and Terminal B, runs through February.
