Local Philadelphia high school students got the chance to discuss their careers when the Marketplace Food & Shops at Philadelphia Airport (PHL) hosted its third annual job fair.
Concession managers discussed employment opportunities with and interviewed students during the fair, which included pupils from George Washington High School, Swenson Arts and Technology High School, Jules Mastbaum Area Vocational High School, Benjamin Franklin High School and Horace Howard Furness High School.
“Our partnership with Philadelphia Academies is a win-win for both our merchants and the students,” says Anna DiGregorio, director of marketing for the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops. “It’s a natural fit for our merchants to work with students that are preparing for careers in the travel industry.”
Philadelphia Academies partners with public high schools to offer 10 career academy models to prepare students for employment and post-secondary education. Students who attended the job fair at PHL are part of the Hotel, Restaurant, Travel and Tourism Academy.
“We’re delighted that the Marketplace Food & Shops continues to offer opportunities for our students and helps raise awareness for our organization through this event,” says Corvette M. Kittrell, program facilitator of Philadelphia Academies. “We are only able to carry out our mission thanks to the generosity of our community partners like the Food & Shops at PHL.”
