Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton this week launched a program designed to make it easy for passengers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) to provide support to USO Arizona.
Change receptacles in front of each security checkpoint in the terminals at PHX are available so travelers can contribute loose change to help make a difference for service members.
The USO offers a quiet place for members of the military and their families to go before their flights, as well as a cafe, a children’s play area, computer kiosks, a movie room and a gaming area.
“I was honored to drop in the first donation and officially kick off the program,” Stanton says. “Phoenix Sky Harbor is one of the busiest airports in the United States. It is important to provide a home away from home for our traveling military members.”
About 23,000 troops and their family members use the USO facility in Terminal 4 at PHX every year.
