Photography exhibits at two airports on the either end of the country have opened.
At John Wayne (SNA), the photos show classic architecture around Orange County. The images, which are featured in architect Richard Dodda’s book “Architectural Styles of Orange County,” show historical homes and buildings from around the county.
“The history of architecture in Orange County is the story of the American Dream, rendered upon a unique landscape,” Dodd says. “It is a story of how styles and methods of building evolved, how movements trickled into our world, and how trend-setters and visionaries here helped set the standard for the world. How our county grew is a story unique to California and to our place in the developing frontier.”
The exhibit can be found post-security across from Gates 11 through 14 in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal. Dodd’s book is available for purchase at the Hudson News and Gift stores in Terminal A at the airport.
At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), “The Airport Show” is a joint venture between the airport’s art program and the Atlanta Photography Group; the exhibit features traditional, documentary-style and modern photos taken by both emerging and existing artists.
“October is Atlanta Celebrates Photography month,” says Katherine Marbury, Aviation Art Program manager. “Hartsfield-Jackson’s exhibit, in partnership with the Atlanta Photography Group, represents just a portion of the photographs that passengers and employees can enjoy during the 2010 festival.”
“The Airport Show” is in the Hartsfield-Jackson Atrium Gallery through Nov. 17.
