Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless and Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) have launched service for passengers traveling through the airport.
PHX visitors have complimentary, ad-supported Wi-Fi access throughout the airport with improved coverage and capacity via the airport’s new network, which features advanced technology. PHX also will offer premium access options for travelers who need additional bandwidth for downloading high-definition videos or uploading large files.
The upgraded network will support the new Passpoint wireless industry standard, which was developed to make connecting to Wi-Fi and transferring between providers seamless for Boingo subscribers and roaming partners who have Passpoint-capable devices and have installed a Passpoint profile.
“The Phoenix Sky Harbor team knows that staying connected is important to our travelers,” says Mike Youngs, deputy aviation director for technology at PHX. “Our upgraded Wi-Fi network and services will offer improved free connectivity and new options for power users with heavy data needs or with multiple devices.”
