Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, members of the city council, and other officials from the city and airport took the first ride Monday to the new Terminal 3 PHX Sky Train Station at Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX).
The extension includes a walkway to Terminal 2. There is no Terminal 1 at PHX.
The opening of this section of the Sky Train means the train now serves all the terminals at PHX, as well as connecting the Valley Metro Rail with Sky Harbor’s East Economy Parking.
“All of Sky Harbor’s passengers may now enjoy an easy connection with public transportation and a convenient ride between the airport and downtown Phoenix,” Stanton says. “That is great news, especially with the Super Bowl coming to Phoenix in 2015.”
The PHX Sky Train operates seven days a week, 365 days a year and is free of charge. The Terminal 3 station received Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.
