PIT Seeking Artist To Develop In-Terminal Artwork

The Office of Public Art has partnered with the Allegheny County Airport Authority in hosting a year-long artist residency at Pittsburgh International (PIT) to develop artwork to be displayed in the terminal.

Artist that are interested are invited to submit qualifications through the open call through Aug. 28, 2017.

The artist, once selected, will spend one year, starting in September, getting to know the airport and conducting activities that engage passengers, employees and others, with the goal of producing a creative work of art that will be on display at PIT.

“We are looking for a highly creative artist who understands the airport and our organization to develop a piece that enhances the ambiance and experience for all,” said Richard Belotti, vice president of planning and director of the Art in the Airport program. “The purpose of the residency is to collaborate on new ideas that engage and connect audiences in and around the airport.”

Based on similar programs that have been conducted at Heathrow (LHR), San Diego International (SAN) and Tampa International (TPA), the artist residency is being made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
