Primanti Brothers Restaurant & Bar, inventors of the eponymous sandwich, will bring their signature menu to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The move is part of PIT’s Sense of Place program to bring local tastes to the airport.
Primanti Bros. will enjoy a home in the Center Core of the airport and more than 2,700 square feet of space. A full bar will serve Primanti’s signature cocktails and a selection of draft and bottled beers.
“We’ve been doin’ this for 86 years,” said Toni Haggerty, long-time manager of the original Primanti Bros. location. “And we’re going to keep doing the same thing now that we’re in the airport. Big sandwiches. Big drinks. The same attitude you’ve been getting from me since 1973. Oh, and breakfast. We’re serving up a great breakfast.”
The new restaurant will open next spring and offer the signature Primanti sandwich, stacked with meat, cheese, slaw and fries.
