The Port of Seattle has selected new dining and retail concepts for locations at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The Port is in the middle of a long-term dining and retail redevelopment program in which leases for the majority of the units are expiring over several years, some of which have already been re-leased.
“There was more competition and there were more local concepts submitted for these leases than we’ve ever received before,” said Port of Seattle Commission President Tom Albro. “We’re particularly pleased that so many local minority and small businesses see the benefit of opportunities at Sea-Tac Airport, will create new jobs, and help us share a Pacific Northwest sense of place with our passengers. Remember to check in early and bring your appetite.”
SSP America was a big winner in the latest round of contract awards. The firm won contracts to operate nine individual restaurants as well as a five-restaurant food hall. The individual restaurant concepts include Asian Box, Ballard Beer Hall, Banh Shop, Caffe Ladro, Good Bar,Kio Shi Sushi Bento, La Place, Le Grand Comptior, Pei Wei Asian Diner, and The Habit Burger Grill. Within the Marche Food Hall, SSP will offer Jujubeet, Macrina Bakery, Salt & Straw, True Burger Co., Slate Coffee Roasters, and Tap & Pour.
Other food and beverage contracts went to The Yarrow Group for Evergreens restaurant, SP-LW, LLC for Poppa Woody’s, 1915 Kchouse Concepts LLC for Lucky Louie, Pallino SeaTac LLC for Pallino, HMSHost Corp. for Starbucks Urban Market (two locations), BF Foods LLC for Stone House Café, and Pacific Gateway Concessions LLC for Standard Bakery and Broadcast Coffee Roasters.
Pacific Gateway Concessions won contracts to operate two specialty retail stores, Seattle Made and Swarovski, as well as The News Stand, a news/gift store.
SEA said more opportunities for interested firms will be available in the future, including approximately 20 units in the next lease group to be proposed for competitive bid starting this summer. Currently, passengers have 86 dining and retail choices at the airport. That number is expected to grow to more than 135 dining and retail choices upon completion of the redevelopment effort.
