St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) has opened a privacy room for moms post-security in the Gate 2-6 area. The room was designed and built by the airport as an important amenity for traveling moms.
The room is located next to the restrooms and has many amenities beneficial to new mothers, including a recliner, table, electrical outlets, sanitary wipes and a bench for additional family seating. The airport has also stocked the room with toys to keep children entertained.
The room can be accessed by security code, which mothers can obtain by calling the airport.
“We wanted to offer a comfortable and private space for our moms and passengers with special needs,” says Tom Jewsbury, airport director. “Next year we will add another room in Gates 7-10 when our terminal renovation project is completed.”
