RDU Launches Virtual Food Hall

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) announced a contract with Vessel NC Operations, a joint venture of REEF Kitchens and J. Johnson & Company LLC, to establish a virtual food hall in Terminal 2.

Virtual food halls, sometimes referred to as “ghost kitchens,” are a new concept to RDU that will provide a wide array of food options by combining menu items from multiple brands into one operation.

Airport officials noted that travelers at RDU will be able to use their smartphone or digital device for both food ordering and payment, providing a completely touchless experience. The new dining option will also expand the food choices available in Terminal 2 during the breakfast, lunch and dinner hours and feature recognized national and local brands.

In addition, the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board said it has inked a short-term deal with Taxi Taxi to provide arriving passengers with walk-up, on-demand, no-call-necessary taxi service. Cabs will stage in the taxi pick-up zones on the arrival curbs for guests to conveniently access when exiting the terminals. RDU’s previous taxi partner discontinued service when passenger traffic declined during the pandemic.
