RIC Awards Contract for Concourse Expansion Project

The Capital Region Airport Commission (CRAC) that operates the Richmond International Airport (RIC) has approved a nearly $28.5 million bid by W.M. Schlosser Company, Inc., a Maryland-based construction company, for the extension of the airport’s A concourse.

“The Concourse A Extension project award is timely as the airport has seen a consistent increase in flights and passenger traffic since 2013,” said Airport Commission chairman Aubrey M. Stanley.

The project, which comes on the heels of RIC breaking its own record for passenger activity growth in August of this year, will add six gates and 60,000 square feet of space. The airport hopes to begin later this year, with expected completion of the concourse in March of 2020.
