Elaine Roberts, president and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, and 10 other individuals will be honored as White House Transportation Champions of Change on Oct. 13 in Washington, D.C.
Those receiving recognition were chosen by U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and the White House for their leadership and innovation in transportation.
“This year’s nominees are a truly gifted group of individuals who have exceptional vision and foresight when it comes to the issues we are dealing with in transportation,” says Secretary Foxx. “Their exemplary leadership is charting the course for our 21st century needs. I applaud them, and I hope to see others follow their lead.”
The theme for this year’s awards was Beyond Traffic: Innovators in Transportation for the Future, focusing on individuals who are considering the future transportation needs of the U.S. Winners were considered in one of four categories: How We Move, How We Move Things, How We Move Better or How We Adapt. Roberts was selected based on her role in adding an intermodal facility at Rickenbacker International (LCK).
The event will be at 1:30 p.m. EST and can be watched live at www.whitehouse.gov/live.
