SAN Offers Fellowships For Veterans

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority will welcome three participants later this month in a program assisting veterans with the transition from active duty to the civilian work force.

The six-month fellowship will provide the vets with practical work experience, networking opportunities and an understanding of the aviation environment.

“With so many diverse facets, the airport provides a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between a veteran’s military experience and the civilian work environment,” says Thella Bowens, president and CEO of San Diego International (SAN). “Through this program, we’re not only helping San Diego’s veterans gain valuable work experience but also fostering interest in a future career within the aviation industry, so it’s a win-win.”

A total of six fellows – three in the fall and three in the spring — will be employed annually over two terms. First-term positions will be in airside operations, aviation security, and public safety and procurement departments. Participants will receive basic benefits and compensation based on the requirements of the position.

Opportunities will be posted at: www.san.org/careers.
