The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has selected national firm Corgan Associates and local company Lake|Flato, to serve as the master architect team for SAT’s Terminal Development Program.
The San Antonio City Council approved the $30 million master architect services agreement calling for the Corgan/ Lake|Flato team to design SAT’s new terminal facility and develop a “sense of place” for anyone arriving in San Antonio.
“We’re happy to work with Corgan and Lake|Flato as they honor and elevate the local character of our San Antonio community,” said Jesus Saenz, director of airports for the San Antonio Airport System, operator of SAT.
Lake|Flato is known for its architectural design of the Federal Courthouse in downtown San Antonio among dozens of projects throughout Texas and the U.S.
Corgan, which is currently completing advanced planning for the terminal development program, will also provide design services for enabling projects, including a ground transportation center and parking garage, terminal support facilities, centralized concessions receiving and distribution facility and terminal roadway realignment
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with both nationally recognized firms to make the new terminal complex a place to be proud of,” said Tim O’Krongley, deputy director of San Antonio Airport System, who leads the terminal development team. “All of these architectural and engineering services for our 17-gate new terminal facility will support air service growth over the next few decades.”
The City Council also approved a contract for KGBTexas Communications, a woman-owned local agency, to provide advertising and marketing services for the San Antonio Airport System. The scope of services for the contract includes promoting air service, concessions, customer experience enhancements and branding initiatives for SAT and a public awareness campaign for the Terminal Development Program.
