Scales Resigns As President, CEO Of AMAC

Shelby Scales will resign her position as president and CEO of the Airport Minority Advisory Council, effective Feb. 29, 2016.

Scales announced in an email to members on Dec. 15 that her resignation has been submitted to AMAC Board Chairman Darryl Daniels and has been accepted.

“I see this as a great opportunity for AMAC and the foundation to bring on new leadership, alliance relationships, resources and energy who can maintain and grow the progress we have realized under my tenure,” Scales said in the email.

Scales took on the role in 2011. She was AMAC’s first African American female executive director. She previously served as the small business program officer for Raleigh-Durham International (RDU).

“I want to personally thank you for working with my administration over the past five years to move the aviation industry forward,” she wrote. “Together we have created many opportunities for minorities and women in procurement and employment.”
