Sacramento County Department of Airports (SCDA) has announced a new Request for Qualifications and Experience (RFQ&E) for artist services as part of Sacramento International Airport (SMF)’s $1.4-billion Concourse B Expansion and SMForward project. The RFQ&E seeks artists or artist teams in the Sacramento region (including Sacramento, Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Placer, San Joaquin, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties) to provide commissioned and purchased artworks highlighting the region for the new Concourse B space, which will include six new gates. Interested applicants must submit by May 1 with the RFQ&E to be decided by August 2025.
“We are thrilled to engage regional artists in this unique initiative,” said Cindy Nichol, SCDA director. “We aspire to offer travelers a highly functional space that meets their travel needs while also providing an immersive environment that celebrates the creativity and identity of our region. This is a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their work on a global stage.”
