A scholarship fund has been created to celebrate the life and career of Susan Baer, who passed away in August.
Baer was previously the director of aviation at the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey. Her most recent position was as the global aviation leader for design firm Arup.
The scholarship was established by Baer’s fellow Vaughn College Board Member Thomas Marotta. It is intended to “honor a woman who made an enduring impact on aviation and devoted her time and enthusiasm to an institution which she believed made a difference in the lives of students.” The fund, started with a donation from Marotta and funded through donations, will supply students at Vaughn College, Baer’s alma mater, with scholarships, laboratory equipment and other resources.
A memorial will be held on Nov. 15 from 7-9 p.m. in the Vaughn College Auditorium to celebrate Baer’s life and career.
