San Francisco International (SFO) today introduces a new mobile app developed by Canadian company Magnusmode to help guide travelers with special cognitive needs, including autism, through the airport experience.
Magnusmode is providing the airport with its MagnusCards app customized for SFO that can provide step-by-step instructions to take users through the activities associated with air travel, such as check-in, security screening and aircraft boarding.
The digital cards help travelers with cognitive special needs become more familiar with the various steps of air travel well before they head to the airport. SFO is the first airport in California and only the second in the U.S to offer MagnusCards, which are available free for both Apple and Android devices.
“Our goal is to provide an exceptional airport, in service to our communities, and we continue to develop programs to achieve this vision, including our popular Ready Set Fly program, which provides a real-world experience of air travel to individuals and families with autism and developmental disabilities,” says Airport Director Ivar Satero. “The addition of MagnusCards at SFO demonstrates our commitment to make the airport experience easier and more accessible for all travelers.”
