This year Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) is implementing a number of design changes intended to improve the airport’s customer experience. These improvements – including an expansion of the restaurant in the gate area, the addition of charging stations and an upgrade to the free Wi-Fi system – are the first major enhancements to the airline terminal since its opening in 2009.
The expansion of the gate-area restaurant will not only increase the restaurant’s size by 50 percent, alleviating its frequent overcrowding; it will also allow for a larger kitchen, broadening the menu offerings to include made-to-order breakfasts and fresh, gourmet burgers. The restaurant’s remodel will begin in mid-January, and it should be completed by spring. During that time the restaurant will operate in a temporary spacing, serving a limited menu.
In addition to SGF’s Wi-Fi upgrade, the airport will add 72 charging stations, bringing its total to 80 charging stations.
“These improvements are driven by passenger growth,” says Brian Weiler, airport director. “With several new routes and airlines going to larger jets, customers using the airport have grown 35 percent since 2011. We want our terminal amenities to keep up.”
